Jason Kelce is opening up about wife Kylie Kelce's previous pregnancy loss, crediting his sports family for supporting the couple through their grief journey.
The retired Philadelphia Eagles star center shared the comments on Wednesday while receiving the March of Dimes Sports Achievement Award in New York City.
"I remember going out to my truck in the middle of practice and meetings, overcome with grief and emotion," he said, describing it as an "absolutely devastating" time.
Depending on the timing, the term pregnancy loss can refer to either a miscarriage, if occurring before 20 weeks, or stillbirth, if occurring after 20 weeks.
According to the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, miscarriages are common and can occur in about 10 of 100 known pregnancies, although the prevalence of miscarriage may be higher, as some losses can occur before a woman even knows she is pregnant.

In addition, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention estimates that about 21,000 babies are stillborn in the U.S. each year and that approximately 1 in 175 pregnancies end in a stillbirth.
Jason Kelce said after he and his wife learned of their loss, their community, including the Eagles, rallied behind them and helped them realize that they weren't alone.

"You really find out in moments like those how awesome sports are [and] how awesome teams are," Jason Kelce said.
He continued, "There are so many people that shared with me -- coaches, teammates, people within the Eagles building, friends of ours -- and you really find out how prevalent this actually is, how often miscarriages happen. And it's something that I think, a lot of times, often doesn't get said and spoken about."
Kylie Kelce also opened up in a July 2024 TikTok video about experiencing a miscarriage before she and Jason Kelce welcomed their eldest daughter, Wyatt.
"I had a miscarriage before Wyatt. I went in for my 13-week ultrasound -- there was no heartbeat," Kylie Kelce said at the time.
"So, I do not take getting pregnant or trying to get pregnant lightly," she continued. "And I think we just need to be in agreement that this is not a topic that anyone needs to be first on reporting. Let the parents say it when they're good and ready."
The Kelces have been married since 2018. In addition to Wyatt Elizabeth, now 6, the couple are parents to daughters Elliotte Ray, 4, Bennett Llewellyn, 2, and Finnley "Finn" Anne, 8 months.
